The Whisper in the Walls

"Just the wind," she muttered, pulling the blanket closer.
The next night, the whispers grew louder, forming unintelligible words. Curious and a little unnerved, she pressed her ear against the wall.
"Help us," the voice rasped.
Emily recoiled, her heart pounding. "Who’s there?" she whispered back.
The whispers stopped. Silence filled the room, heavy and suffocating.
Days passed, but the whispers returned every night, pleading and sobbing. Determined to uncover the mystery, Emily pried open a section of the wall. Inside, she found a dusty, yellowed diary belonging to a young woman named Clara. The entries spoke of strange occurrences in the house and a growing fear of her husband, who had "changed."
mily’s breath hitched as the final entry read:
“He locked me in. I hear his footsteps. He’s coming…”
Suddenly, the lights flickered. A shadow moved behind her.
Before Emily could turn, a cold hand clamped over her mouth.
And the whispers in the walls grew louder.
